The good folks over at
Fústar (a culture blog we cannot praise highly enough) are currently doing a series on Eugene Lambert. Like a good many other people within a wide age bracket, Mr. Lambert's creations brought a touch of magic into our childhood and we well remember going along to see his puppet-shows at Christmas time. Please go over there and check it out (parts
1 and
2, and part 3 yet to come).
This was good quality Irish programming, and what the National Broadcaster ought to be investing in with our TV licence fee. Not spending it on foreign imports - much of which is, quite frankly, rubbish and already easily available on satellite and cable.
